Paul Elliman, The Day Shapes, 2018

Paul Elliman, The Day Shapes, 2018

Join us for a meditative afternoon responding to the Greek myth of Persephone and Demeter through poetry.

In response to Domestic Violence Awareness Month, this event will explore the story of Persephone and Demeter – a mother and daughter separated by Hades, bound in different worlds – in relation to the Friedrich Schiller poem that inspired the title for Liverpool Biennial 2018: Beautiful world, where are you?

A meditative space has been created at Blackburne House in which Alice Lenkiewicz will perform whilst a poem reinterpreting the story of Persephone and Demeter will be read aloud to visitors.

This event is part of The City is a School and is programmed by the Mediation and Volunteer team for Liverpool Biennial 2018. It includes artist talks, workshops, discussions and events.
