Join award-winning Mumbai-based poet, critic, and curator Ranjit Hoskote and Director of Liverpool Biennial Sally Tallant at Bluecoat for an evening of discussion and poetry readings. Drawing on their impressive range of global expertise in programming arts festivals, Tallant and Hoskote will be thinking about Biennials worldwide and the ways in which international arts festivals and the literary arts can enter into creative and critical dialogue with each other.
Ranjit Hoskote has published five collections of poetry, including Central Time (2014) and Zones of Assault (1991). His poems are committed to exploring the possibilities of the image and make imaginative use of landscape and artistic allusion. As well as creative writing, Hoskote has also curated an impressive range of exhibitions on contemporary Indian and international art.
Sally Tallant is the Director of Liverpool Biennial. From 2001–11 she was Head of Programmes at the Serpentine Gallery, London, where she was responsible for the development and delivery of an integrated programme of exhibitions, architecture, education and public programmes. She is a Board Member of the International Biennial Association and a member of the London Regional Council for the Arts Council of England.
This event is organised in collaboration with the University of Liverpool's Centre for New and International Writing.
