This day-long symposium interrogates current models of criticism, sustainability and artistic development. Four panels of artists, writers, and curators discuss challenges to arts education, the necessity for affordable and secure studios, shifts in approaches to critical writing, and the visibility and longevity of emerging practices.
Contributors including Kevin Atherton, Charlotte Higgins, Francesco Manacorda, Joe Orr, Cliodhna Shaffrey, George Vasey and Jonathan P Watts present an informed survey of how artists’ practices can be productively challenged and developed; supported through critical discourse and exhibition spaces; as well as finding a place within plans for urban regeneration.
This event is organised by New Contemporaries in partnership with Art Fund.
