Director Chantal Akerman, 1976, Belgium-France-USA, 85 min

The late Belgian filmmaker Chantal Akerman’s portrait of 1970s New York City. In News From Home Akerman captures scenes from the three years she spent living and working in the city before returning to Belgium. Punctuated by a monologue of letters from the filmmakers mother, the film alludes to the loneliness and isolation of the big city. 

Another Version of Events is the official Liverpool Biennial 2016 film programme. A selection of films influenced by genres including sci-fi, mockumentary, pseudo-documentary, mockbuster and ethnofiction is being screened every week throughout the Biennial.
