Join Donna Young, Curator of the Herbarium Collection at National Museums Liverpool, for a tour of this display of anatomical models of plants. The papier-mâché models were made for the purpose of understanding the natural world through education, demonstration and display by the Berlin firm of R Brendel & Co in Germany around the turn of the 20th century. Through this tour we will explore how scientists and artists converged disciplines, producing beautiful working tools for the communication of science.
This tour forms part of Worlds within worlds, which invites audiences to explore the rich histories and stories evoked by objects and artefacts from the city's civic collections and architecture as part of Liverpool Biennial 2018.
