Venice,1968. Artist, workers and students protest, XXXIV Esposizione Biennale Internazionale d'Arte “Photo Ugo Mulas © Ugo Mulas Heirs. All rights reserved”

Drawing from the De Middel commission and Mulas exhibition at Open Eye Gallery, Guy Atkins will lead a critical debate and workshop reflecting on protests, demonstrations and current practices within institutions.

Atkins is a writer, researcher and artist. He read Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oriel College, Oxford and holds an MA in Art and Politics from Goldsmiths, University of London. After ten years working in and around the civil service, Guy has returned to academia. He is currently undertaking a PhD at Goldsmiths and the Museum of London.

His past projects include Make the March (makethemarch.org.uk), an independent project set up to support the March For A Future That Works on 20 October 2012. The website was a way for as many people as possible to see the banners, placards and costumes that were being created ahead of the march on 20 October. This gave participants a chance to cut through mainstream media to show off their material.
