Spare Room

From the cavernous vaults of Toxteth Reservoir, Adam Chodzko presents a performance: a talk, set in the future, that draws together ideas about Liverpool Dock developments, global shipping, the reality of domestic space, a modified wardrobe and the sole of a Nike trainer. Chodzko brings assumptions about infrastructural expansion into collision with the mind's ability to imagine how consumerist processes affect our living environments.

Capacity is limited so booking is essential.

Adam Chodzko (born 1965, London) is an artist whose multidisciplinary practice explores the interactions and possibilities of human behaviour. Working across media, from video installation to subtle interventions, his practice is sited partly within the gallery space and partly within the wider public realm. Chodzko’s practice operates between documentary and fantasy, conceptualism and surrealism and public and private space, often engaging reflexively and directly with the role of the viewer. Since 1991, Chodzko has exhibited nationally and internationally at numerous venues including Tate Britain; Tate St Ives; Venice Biennale; Royal Academy, London; Deste Foundation, Athens; PS1, NY; Ikon Gallery, Birmingham; Kunstmuseum Luzern; Henry Moore Institute, Leeds; Yorkshire Sculpture Park; Athens Biennale; Istanbul Biennial; Benaki Museum, Athens; and Folkestone Triennial.

Part of Thinking City, a programme of artist-led events that take place in private and public spaces across Liverpool. Thinking City is a collaboration between Liverpool Biennial, Tate Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University.
