Sixteen tethered pieces of The Puzzle floating in the Albert Dock collectively carrie a blue triangle on a red background. Moved by the waves and the wind, the parts collided, unresolved, generating percussive and synthesized samples. Taken together, colour, waves, sound and the dock setting – combining natural elements within a man-made arena – performed an oblation. From sunrise to sunset we could behold this ritual; our contemplation and memory of the work can provide rest and relief for our troubled mind or haunted imagination.
