Join artist Marvin Gaye Chetwynd for a special live performance of Dogsy Ma Bone. Chetwynd has been commissioned by Liverpool Biennial to create a new film with and for children, inspired by the musical Betty Boop’s A Song A Day (1936) and Bertolt Brecht’s satirical Threepenny Opera (1928). The film has been developed collaboratively with 78 Liverpool-based children and teenagers, who have worked with Chetwynd to create props, music and script – as well as starring in the film itself.

This live event features scenes from the film and is being performed in three acts at a specially designed ‘speakeasy for kids’ within Cains Brewery’s Canning Hall. Come to experience original and exciting musical material, and throw away your cares as Betty Boop’s animals bounce off the screen and into real life.

Marvin Gaye Chetwynd (b. 1973, London, UK) lives in Glasgow, UK. Chetwynd’s practice intertwines performance, sculpture, painting, installation and video. Her work incorporates elements of folk plays, street spectacles, popular culture and Surrealist cinema. Her performances and videos often employ troupes of performers – friends and relatives of the artist – and feature handmade costumes and props. She has performed and exhibited internationally, and was shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 2012.

This event is delivered in partnership with Metal.
