Danielle Freakley (b.1982, Perth, Australia) lives between Melbourne and Perth in Australia. She spoke through referenced quotations in daily life for three years. She also lived as a human art gallery, called Artist Running Space, exhibiting other artists work on her body (in her gallery suit) in locations complementing their works. The locations included snake temples, S&M clubs, snowy mountains, the set of the Australian TV show Neighbours, and men’s public toilets.
She is a first selection finalist for the Arsenale of Venice - Arte Laguna Prize (2016); partaking in a New York residency, supported by the Andy Warhol Foundation, and with Biruchiy in Ukraine (2016); Some other shows include: Arte Moris Art Space, Dili, East Timor (2014); MCA, with Mark Hostler representing the USA band/collective Negativland, Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney, Australia (2013); Performa, Performance Art Biennale of New York, New York, USA (2009); and National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, Australia (2008). She has exhibited works in numerous group exhibitions in the San Francisco International Arts Festival (2016); the Incinerator Gallery, Melbourne, Australia (2015); Juliette Jongma Gallery, Amsterdam, Netherlands (2014); Triennial of Extended Media, ULUS Gallery, Belgrade, Serbia (2013); Auckland Triennial, Stark White Gallery, Auckland, New Zealand (2013); and Kuala Lumpur Triennial, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (2009).
