Build Your Own Pavilion: Liverpool Biennial Hosts Serpentine Workshop For Future Architects

This summer, Liverpool Biennial is hosting a workshop for the Serpentine Galleries' Build Your Own Pavilion: Young Architects competition. Budding architects aged 8 - 14 are invited to submit their interpretation of the Serpentine's iconic pavilions online through a new digital platform, and by taking part in workshops across the UK.

Serpentine Galleries will bring their workshop to Childwall Sports and Science Academy in Liverpool on Monday 15 July. Developed in collaboration with KIDESIGN, the workshop will give students at the Academy an insight into basic architectural processes. Exploring everything from architectural principles, idea generation, sketching and psychical prototyping, the workshop aims to develop constructive thinking and engineering skills. The student with the best model made during theses sessions will win ‘Best of the Class’, and receive the opportunity to realise their design using 3D software and 3D printing.

Anyone can take part in the The Build Your Own Pavilion online competition, where you can submit your designs and have them showcased in an online gallery. The platform offers the opportunity to download tools for designing and building a pavilion, and gain valuable advice from the world’s leading professionals. Overall winners will be selected at the end of summer, and will be selected by a panel of experts including the architects of the 2015 pavilion, SelgasCano, and the Directors of the Serpentine Galleries.
