The internationally renowned John Moores Painting Prize has been championing contemporary British painting for almost 60 years. Representing the UK’s most talented artists, it is the country’s longest established painting prize for artists working with the medium of paint. The exhibition is organised in partnership with the John Moores Liverpool Exhibition Trust, and held at the Walker Art Gallery biennially. Judges this year include artists Gillian Carnegie, Ansel Krut, Pheobe Unwin, Ding Yi and internationally published author and freelance curator Rev’d Dr Richard Henry Davey. For 2016, 54 works have been selected from more 2,500 entries.

From the selected artists, five painters have been shortlisted and awarded prizes of £2,500, while the overall winner will receive, which will be revealed on 7 July will receive a prize of £25,000.
